Evangelism
We know that time is short, we know that Jesus is coming back. Are we doing
what Jesus has commanded us to do? Matthew 28:18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has
been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 “Go therefore and make disciples of
all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of
the Holy Spirit, 20 “teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded
you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. Jesus
has commanded us to evangelise. To spread the gospel message. There are several
ways we can do this. You might think but I don't get out much or I lack the
courage. Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come
upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and
Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” The Holy Spirit fills us with boldness
to step out and do all that Jesus has commanded us to do. Acts 4:31 And when
they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and
they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with
boldness. Recently I had a conversation with a chatter about unwanted phone
calls from sales people. We discussed using it as an opportunity to witness. At
that moment I said, "Yes Lord!" The following evening the Lord gave me the honour of evangelising over the telephone to a
telemarketer. This turned out to be a divine appointment from the Lord. The lady
I spoke to received confirmation that it was time for her to get serious about
her walk with the Lord. She told me she had previously asked Jesus into her
heart but had not made a commitment to follow Jesus or serve Him as a disciple.
This lady was very thankful that I had the courage to come right out and ask her
if she knew Jesus died for her. As we say "Yes Lord", He brings those who He has
prepared to hear into our lives. Step out in faith, knowing that God will meet
you as you share Jesus with people. Often people hang up the phone when they
receive calls like these only to miss valuable opportunities to spread the
gospel message. You may also use the internet to
witness to people. Every time someone comes into your life wherever you may be
there is an opportunity to sow seed for the glory of God. Sales people often
want to promote their products in shopping centres which gives us another
opportunity to share Jesus. When you do sow seed
be sure to pray for those people. That the seed would sprout and grow into a
tree of righteousness producing much fruit. Jeremiah 17:7 “But blessed are
those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. 8
They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into
the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of
drought. Their leaves stay green, and they go right on producing delicious
fruit. Are we true disciples of Christ? Are we able to say as Isaiah did..
"Here am I, send me?" Isaiah 6:8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:
“Whom shall I send, And who will go for Us?” Then I said, “Here am I! Send me.”
Salvation is free, discipleship costs. Have we truly laid down our lives for
the sake of others coming to know Jesus? Don't let anything keep you from becoming a true
disciple of Jesus, do all that He has called you to do. All of us are called to
reconcile others back to God, we must be busy about our Father's business. Lay
up for yourselves treasure in heaven. Earth has nothing for us, we must not seek
that which is temporal when our destination is heaven. |
